Avenatti Flips out: Why Is Everyone Focusing on My Gang Rape Claims and ‘Not the Other Paragraphs’

‘I wish people would concentrate on many of the other paragraphs in the declaration, because they are equally damning to Brett Kavanaugh’

Michael Avenatti repeatedly lost his cool in an interview Saturday morning after being asked about his claims that Supreme Court nominee ran a gang-rape ring while a high school students, drugging unsuspecting women and sexually abusing them.

"You know, I wish people would concentrate on many of the other paragraphs in the declaration, because they are equally damning to Brett Kavanaugh," Avenatti said. "And those other paragraphs in and of themself if true would render him unable to be confirmed for the U.S. Supreme Court."

Those paragraphs refer to the general party atmosphere at which Kavanaugh his friend Mark Judge, the claim reads, "spiked" the punch, made lewd comments about women, and "grinded" against them while dancing.

When pressed on the gang-rape allegation, Avenatti admitted there "are facts that suggest he was not involved."

"There are facts that suggest to her that he was involved; there are facts that suggest to her that he was not involved," the celebrity attorney explained. "This is not as clear cut as many might hope."

Avenatti also said his client was frequently under the influence of drugs and alcohol so her memory is imperfect.

"People might say why is that or how is that?" he said of the incomplete evidence supporting his claim. "Because she was under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs involuntarily and she does not know with great certainty exactly what happened. That’s why these girls were able to be taken advantage of by these boys at these parties. That was the M.O. That was the process. That’s how they went about taking advantage of these girls."

Later, Avenatti was again asked about the gang rape claim and again lost his cool.

"This is part of my frustration," he said, "Everybody wants to focus on the train rape allegation, as if that’s the only allegation in the entire declaration that matters."

Avenatti then said Clarence Thomas's nomination was almost blocked over allegation of a pubic hair on a can of coke, and there's enough in the non-gang rape part of his client's testimony to meet that standard.
