DEAN (voice-over): "A defiant Joe Biden facing extreme backlash after making remarks recalling his work with segregationist senators in the 1970s. The Democratic front-runner telling donors at a fund-raiser that former senator James Eastland, quote, never called him boy,'He always called me son,' and that former senator Herman Talmadge was, quote, 'One of the meanest guys I ever knew,' adding, 'Well guess what? At least there was some civility. We got things done. We didn’t agree on much of anything. We got things done.' Senator Cory Booker slamming the former vice president, writing, quote, 'I’m disappointed that he hasn’t issued an immediate apology for the pain his words are dredging up for many Americans.' But Biden refused to do so."

BIDEN: "The point I’m making is, you don’t have to agree, you don’t have to like the people in terms of their views, but you just simply make the case and you beat them."
REPORTER: “Are you going to apologize like Cory Booker has called for?”
BIDEN: “Apologize for what?”
REPORTER: “Cory Booker has called for it.”
BIDEN: “Cory should apologize. He knows better. There’s not a racist bone in my body. I’ve been involved in civil rights my whole career, period, period, period.”
