MURPHY: "This epidemic of gun violence is a uniquely American problem; it doesn't happen in any other industrialized country. And it's not because we have a higher rate of mental illness than other countries do. It's not because we spend less money on law enforcement than other countries do. It's because this country has the loosest set of gun laws allowing dangerous people to own dangerous weapons in the industrialized world. And so, what is unacceptable in the wake of the most deadly mass shooting in the history of the country is for this utter silence, this unintentional complicity from Congress to continue."
