EXCERPT:

HAMAWY: “I’ll answer that question. You know, back 30 years ago, most of everything he talked about was [inaudible]. I mean, he was a leader of the community that talks about how to pray, how to Wash, how to kind of, you know, practice as a normal Muslim. You know, it’s not — he wasn’t, you know, preaching like, you know, death and destruction all the time, and he had certain views that he spoke in certain forums, but that’s not what he did every single day. And so, that’s kind of taking things out of context when you — when that’s all that’s [inaudible]. Obviously, what happened was horrible. And, you know — yeah, that’s — it’s not what he did.”
