Witness: Clinton Removed Lamps, Other Furnishings from State Dept. to Furnish D.C. Home

The agent ‘does not know whether these items were ever returned to the government upon Clinton’s departure’

An unnamed State Department staffer told the FBI that Hillary Clinton and her staff took lamps and other belongings from the State Department to furnish the former First Lady's Washington, D.C., residence, FBI documents reveal.

The FBI document is included in the "The Vault," a compendium of evidence federal investigators compiled while investigating Clinton's secret server. Most of the documents are transcripts of interviews the agents conducted with witnesses.

In one, first spotted by Washington Post reporter Matt Zapotosky, a State Department official tells the FBI that "early in Clinton's tenure as Secretary of State, she and her staff were observed removing lamps and furniture from the State Department, which were transported to her residence in Washington, D.C."

The unnamed staffer "does not know whether these items were ever returned to the government upon Clinton's departure from the State Department."

After the Clintons' departure from the White House in 2000, they were accused of similarly taking more than $200,000 worth of furnishings and collectibles from the Executive Mansion.
