PAUL: "Despite cries of cheating from GOP lawmakers here in California, a new bill that speeds up the recall election of Gov. Gavin Newsom passed and was then signed into law by the governor. S.B. 152 essentially bypasses one of the current recall steps. Instead of there being a legislative review of the recall process, it will give the Secretary of State’s Office the ability to approve the recall as long as the state legislature has set aside enough money to cover recall costs. In this case, it already has agreed to cover the estimated $215 million price tag of the recall. So, now, the recall could happen at least 30 days earlier. Some Democrats believe moving up the recall could help Governor Newsom as he rides high approval ratings with California reopening and with there being an $80 million surplus."
