John Kasich: GOP Should Be ‘Thanking Me for Staying in’ the Race

‘I’m going to compete across the company and tell people who I am and let the chips fall where they may’

John Kasich, who last week said his continued candidacy is an opportunity for Republicans to “reward him” for his past accomplishments, said today Republicans “should thank me,” for remaining in the race.

Appearing on Meet the Press, host Chuck Todd asked, ”Why are you in Utah? And I ask that because, if you didn’t campaign in Utah and Ted Cruz won 50 percent of the vote, you deny Donald Trump any delegates, which actually helps your path to getting to Cleveland in a contested convention.”

“I’m going to compete across the company and tell people who I am and let the chips fall where they may,” Kasich replied. “Maybe Ted ought to get out because he can’t win in the fall.”

Addressing Republicans calling on him to get out of the race, Kasich said, “They should be thanking me for staying in, because if Trump had won Ohio, it’d be over!”
