What I think we need to do is make sure that we are being very clear in speaking our values. We are a city that is a sanctuary city. We have immigrants from all over the world who call Chicago their home. They’ll continue to do that and we're going to continue to make sure that this is truly a welcoming community for those immigrants. We want them to come to the city of Chicago. I also as a lawyer and former federal prosecutor want to make sure that we are doing everything that follows the law and that people’s rights are respected. Immigrants, particularly asylum seekers, have a right to due process, they have a right to a constitutional process that is consistent with the rule of law and we are going to continue to insist that that law be followed."
