Manafort: When Trump Gives Speeches He’s Just ‘Projecting an Image,’ Playing a ‘Part’

‘The part he’s been playing is evolving into the part that you’ve been expecting but he wasn’t ready for’

The real Donald Trump is very different from the one giving speeches to Americans, his campaign manager, Paul Manafort, said yesterday.

Speaking in a closed door meeting with Republican National Committee officials, Manaford sought to allay concerns over Trump's bombastic character.

In a general election, Trump will appear far more subdued, Manafort said.

When Trump "is sitting in a room, talking business, he is talking politics, it is a different persona," Manafort said.

Manafort suggested Trump doesn't believe everything he says in his speeches. "He is out on the stage, talking about the kinds of things he talks about, he is projecting an image that's for that purpose. The part he's been playing is evolving into the part that you've been expecting but he wasn't ready for," he added.
