Donald Trump's speech in Pennsylvania touting the tax bill is receiving rave reviews from ... MSNBC.
On Thursday's "Hardball," host Chris Matthews and MSNBC contributor Howard Fineman praised the Trump's speech with unusual enthusiasm.
Matthews warned Democrats will need a "powerful, powerful candidate" to beat Trump in 2020 if he continues giving speeches as he did Thursday.
"I thought Trump’s speech today was a barn-burner," Chris Matthews said. "I have never heard him give a better speech. For whatever reason he rose to the occasion. I know it was home court. I think if he behaves like that, the Democrats are going to need a powerful, powerful candidate to knock him off --"
Fineman agreed.
"There is a big blue wave or wind blowing ... in '18, — but if he’s going to sail through it, and get through it, it’s going to have to be with speeches like the he gave today. He talked about his calling card, which is the economy -- even if he didn’t personally create all of this by any means, and Barack Obama deserves credit for it to some extent -- unemployment is low, minority unemployment is low. He made his best case today and he stayed on message."
Fineman went on to say it was "as good as Donald Trump is going to get on the stump."
