MSNBC’s Tur Asks Rep. Jackson Lee Six Times in a Row if She’ll Impeach Trump

‘If there is evidence of a crime, should that lead to impeachment?’

MSNBC’s Katy Tur really wants to know if Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee (D-Texas) will finally impeach President Trump.

The Texas congressman appeared on Tur’s MSNBC show today for an extended 10 minute interview.

However she was only asked variations of one question: Will you impeach Trump?

Tur started off by asking whether Democrats’ recent request for more testimony and documents from the Trump Administration is the start of impeachment proceedings: “When you look at this, and you look at everybody that’s been called and the documents they’re requesting, is this an impeachment hearing in everything but name?”

Tur then followed up with another impeachment question: “So when Chairman Nadler said he is building a public record, you’re basically saying that you’re building a public record that could lead you to full-on impeachment hearings?”

Tur’s next question probed impeachment more vaguely: “Chairman Nadler says it is clear the president obstructed justice, that he has violated the emoluments clause, do you belief the president may have committed a crime?”

The MSNBC then returned to the more direct approach:  “You say there is evidence of obstruction. If there is evidence of a crime, should that lead to impeachment?”

Tur then tried diving deeper into the impeachment question: “I want to delve in a little deeper and see where the line is when it comes to impeachment and if this is only a political process. If the president is found to have violated the Constitution accepting bribes or gifts from foreign countries. If there is a report that finds that, if he is found to be guilty of violating the Constitution, is it Congress’s duty to impeach him or try to impeach him?”

Finally, with only a minute left of her 10 minute interview, Tur stayed focused and concluded with another impeachment question: “I’m just wondering, with the Constitution, the president store on the bible he would protect the Constitution when he was sworn into office in 2017. If he violated the Constitution, if it is found he did that, it’s unclear whether or not that would be a high crime and misdemeanor.”
