Robby Mook: ‘There Was a Wiretap ... the Intelligence Community Told Us’

‘The facts are Trump aides were caught talking to Russian agents’

The intelligence community told Hillary Clinton's campaign there was in fact a wiretap of Russian officials, and possibly Trump computers, Clinton's former campaign chairman, Robby Mook, acknowledged today.

Mook appeared on Fox News's "Fox and Friends." Here's an excerpt from the exchange:

MOOK: "I think it is important to step back first of all to remember the facts here. The facts are Trump aides were caught talking to Russian agents and they were, those conversations were captured because the intelligence community regularly taps the phone lines of those Russian agents. So I think it is important --"

DOOCY: "You say there was a wiretap?"

MOOK: "There was a wiretap of Russian agent and that those Russian agents were communicating with Trump staff. That is why they were picked up."

KILMEADE: "How do you know that?"

MOOK: "That is what the intelligence community has told us. That is what has been reported very widely of the those are the facts."

On October 31st, Clinton herself tweeted about a connection between servers at the Trump Tower at a Russian bank, prompting questions to Mook about what she knew at the time.

Mook deflected the question, telling Ainsley Earhardt "Ask your research team to go back and look." The tweet referenced an article in Slate which cited an unnamed security expert who went by the moniker "Tea Leaves," which alleged a server at the Trump Tower was communicating with a Russian bank.
