RUSH TRANSCRIPT:
"Hello. I am here representing public health. When I say public, you say health. Public. Health. We need to remember that data tells stories. We all have a story. My story is that I am a public health geek and a policy wonk. I am also a clear transgender -- a queer transgendered man and science helps make sure that my committee and I are counted and recounted decisions that affect our lives. [Cheers and applause] Science is about all of us. My friend is working to treat -- to break new ground and diabetes. Science is my mother, a citizen scientists contribute the data from her background -- could you the data from her backyard bird feeder. [Cheers and applause] And sciences my hello students at the Johns Hopkins school of public health. Woo! Who do research to inform policy decisions like the affordable care act!"
