In Senate-Style Floor Speech on DACA, Pelosi Calls Herself a Person of Faith

‘I do believe faith is a gift that everyone doesn’t have’

EXCERPT:

PELOSI: "As I noted earlier, tomorrow is the National Prayer Breakfast and many people who will be gathered there among those who have been so supportive of our DREAMers. And we thank them for their leadership and their courage. I don’t know if these people will be there tomorrow but certainly members of their churches. As I mentioned, Dr. Sam Rodriguez, reverend, also has spoken out as a leader in the evangelical community. I wanted to — so hopefully tomorrow, as they pray and come together, they will be speaking about what we see from the pulpit, from the bishops and evangelical community. If you believe that we are all God’s creation, as I do, as people of faith do, and I do believe faith is a gift that everyone doesn’t have so you may not have that same perspective, but if you do believe, and I believe everyone gathered there tomorrow will believe, and many people our country ascribe to 'In God we trust,' then you must subscribe to what the Bible tells us. To minister to the needs of the God’s creation is an act of worship. To ignore those needs is to dishonor the God who made us, reflected in the Gospel of Matthew that I referenced earlier."
