Covid-19 has taken Anthony Fauci from obscurity into the center of the public spotlight. His rise in profile is not due to his competence, but is a result of his willingness to further political narratives. As Fauci has grown in prominence, much of the public sees him for what he is, a weaselly lifelong government bureaucrat with an oversized ego. However, there exists another segment of society which has fallen for Fauci’s act and views him as a hero or savior of sorts. This is the Cult of Fauci. Leading the charge for the Cult of Fauci is none other than the bootlickers who populate the leftist mainstream media.
Fauci, who could hardly be more impressed with himself, is constantly interviewed on television, rarely facing criticism or challenging lines of questioning. Instead, he is met with fawning praise for his handling of covid-19 by a parade of obsequious narrative-pushers masquerading as journalists and news reporters.
MSNBC’s Morning Joe has been at the forefront of Fauci’s ongoing media tour as he has made numerous appearances on the show. Co-host Joe Scarborough has referred to Fauci as an “American hero” and praised him for his “service to America.” This sentiment was shared by Scarborough's co-host wife Mika Brzezinski who lauded Fauci telling him, “We appreciate your service to this country.” Several other cable news hosts have similarly thanked Fauci for ‘his service’ and for ‘everything he does.’ One wonders if this praise includes the funding of abusive experiments on animals and gain-of-function research in China.
CNN’s Wolf Blitzer, who routinely exaggerates and presumes to speak for the public, did exactly this when he told Fauci, “Dr. Fauci, on behalf of all of our viewers here in the US and around the world, thanks very much for doing what you are doing. Thanks very much for joining us. Please thank your entire team as well. We are all grateful.” While Blitzer and the other media cultists may be thankful for what Fauci has done, this feeling is hardly shared by the public at large despite the relentless onslaught of pro-Fauci propaganda.
Earlier this week, MSNBC’s Stephanie Ruhle provided one of the most nauseating Cult of Fauci media moments as she concluded her interview with him gushing, “I am sincerely appreciative that you are not walking away from this post. You make us smarter and safer and better everyday. Thank you so much Dr. Fauci.”
Unfortunately, for now the American people still have to suffer the Cult of Fauci, its insufferable media promoters, and the egocentric Dr. Fauci. On the bright side, this adulation of Fauci holds no power to turn doubters into cult members. At this point, the sight of Fauci being showered with praise in the media only reinforces both the lack of credibility of the corporate mainstream press and how anything that comes out of Tony Fauci’s mouth should be taken with a grain of salt if not disregarded entirely.
