Our base are older black voters who all want increased police presence in their areas and who abhor this kind of activity, the same way that anyone with their head screwed on straight would. And there has been this big disconnect between people that want the lighter sentencing or no repercussions or have taken the idea that we should have criminal justice reform and have a reasonable conversation about the fact that we’ve had over-incarceration, and folks who just say lawlessness. That has nothing to do with the Democratic base and I want to be really clear about that. That is not something that we stand for. It certainly never has been."
