Tony Shaffer: North Korea Should Take Trump’s Words ‘Very Seriously’

‘I would not put it past Mr. Trump to ask his Pentagon leaders, those familiar with North Korea, to have a range of options available to him just like with Afghanistan, and with Syria’

EXCERPT:

SHAFFER: "We have contingency plans to do a lot of things on the Korean Peninsula. This goes back to the time I was working with this issue back in the 90s. With that said, the primary interest of those ships, Lou, is to stop a ballistic missile attack from the peninsula, from the North Koreans to any part of South Korea, Japan or other locations, that is why those ships are there. Should we or could we do something  against the nuclear program? Absolutely. Again, I have been part of the planning on that. Let me be clear on this, while we’ve not done anything, the Pentagon and U.S. Forces Korea have had a lot of time to plan. There are a lot of things on the shelf. I would not put it past Mr. Trump to ask his Pentagon leaders, especially those familiar with North Korea, to have a range of options available to him just like we've done with Afghanistan, and just like we've done with Syria. I think the North Koreans need to be taking Mr. Trump’s words very seriously."
