SILVER: “Hello, I am Matt silver. I went 16 hours straight Paul watching. I took about — poll watching. I took about 30 to 45 minutes to get through despite having credentials and I showed an email that I was supposed to go in. They let me through. When I was there, I was turned away for a tablet. They did not want any tablets or computers. Eventually when I was let through, you were not able to get anywhere near the ballots. There were three rows of people counting ballots that may have been 15 feet away, and there was another row and another row. To the extent that you could see anything, we were told repeatedly to invite democratic poll watchers and if they see as taking a photograph or a video we will be thrown out. The only place you could use a phone was several hundred feet away from the ballots. I don’t know what they were trying to protect. I saw some people looking at the ballots legitimately, some people moving through them at a rate of one a second or so that we could not see a single thing. To the extent that you could see certain things in boxes, they seemed to be in the same unusual pen and seemed to have very unusual handwriting. Some boxes were normal. Some boxes were like that. They put some in the very back of the room where you could not see anything hundreds of feet away and put supposedly the same boxes, I cannot tell if they are or not, through separate machines where they stripped the ballots, the outer casing of the privacy ballot. At that point, they are separate from the privacy ballot and will never be able to be tracked. What I saw was disturbing in the process team to be specifically so we could not observe and so we could not challenge. The only way to challenge something was to call an individual who was in the back of the room who could seek to people — speak to people. They were very worried about photographs and videos. I was asked by the Republican national responses — association. There was some type of vetting process and my bar number and I guess my credentials.”
