Beto O’Rourke: ‘This Country... Is Still Racist at Its Foundation, at Its Core’

‘That’s the experience of America’

O-ROURKE: “As Dr. King reminded us, each of us is caught in an inextricable network of mutuality, tied in a single garment of destiny. This country, though we may not be in El Paso, Texas, is still racist at its foundation, at its core, and throughout this system. This country, though El Paso is one of the safest cities in America, is still inherently violent. 40,000 gun deaths just last year in America. No other country in the world is even close to this kind of carnage So though that may not have been our experience in El Paso over the years I was growing up or the years I was raising my children, that is experience of America and we are still connected to this country and that experience will find us sooner or later, and on August 3rd it did. That is the cost and the consequence not just of Donald Trump, but this false, fabricated, fake fear he wants us to feel about one another, and we must reject it."
