‘Trump is relying heavily on Elon Musk’s money for his political operation’

EXCERPT:

BUCK: "Well, I think they built structures where DOGE is going to stay in place. And I imagine they’re going to continue to make cuts and fire people. I mean that part of it, I think a lot of Republicans in Congress at least are very comfortable with. The thing that they’re saying privately, and not a lot of them on the record, is that Elon Musk is extremely unpopular, and I think a lot of them will be happy to see him go. He was unpopular before all of Doge started, and now he’s extremely unpopular. But the reason they can’t just shove him out and say things publicly is his money. I think this is an underappreciated dynamic. Every single Republican in Congress is terrified of Elon Musk dropping $3 million in their district in a primary to take him out. Donald Trump is relying heavily on Elon Musk’s money for his political operation, and this is how they intend to pass their legislative agenda, basically with threats of coming in and primarying people. So they’re happy to see him go. They just need to be very delicate about doing it so that they’ll keep having access to his enormous fortune and the way that helps them win elections."
