Former FBI Director James Comey may not be such a hot investigator after all.
America's former top law enforcer made a bold claim about the president that is ... easy to verify.
As relayed in his new book, "A Higher Loyalty," Comey says he's "never seen" President Trump laugh. He told Anderson Cooper Wednesday night that he even spent significant time scouring YouTube, looking for evidence Trump is capable of laughter -- but could only find one video.
"I've actually looked for this, I've tried to find examples, and I could only find one searching YouTube," Comey claimed.
He describes the apparent only YouTube video of Trump laughing: "So I looked for it and I found one, which was a rally in New Hampshire where he is speaking and a dog starts barking and he said, 'What’s that?' And somebody yelled, 'It's Hillary Clinton.' And then he laughed, but a really mean kind of laugh. And that was the only one I could find. So, to me, that's a tell that's very concerning."
Grabien has checked ourselves and were able to find more than 700,000 results for the YouTube search "Trump laughing." Of course, not every result necessarily features Trump laughing, but the first page of results indicates there are certainly plenty out there:
The results go on and on. In just a few minutes, we counted more than 50 YouTube videos featuring Trump laughing.
How could Comey get something so easy so wrong? Perhaps we should recall his earlier explanation for how he managed to exonerate Hillary Clinton before his agents even spoke with the subject of the investigation. Good investigators, he told George Stephanopoulos, "have a general sense of where [an investigation is] likely to end up" before they finish. Or in the case of Comey's probe into Trump's apparent refusal to laugh, before he even started.
