Compilation: Meet The Press Uses Term ‘Constitutional Crisis’ Frequently, Despite Claims Otherwise

Yet again, we are on the brink of a ‘constitutional crisis’

On Wednesday, Meet The Press' Chuck Todd said of President Trump's refusal of working with Democrats before Congressional investigations conclude that "We have reached the point of a political crisis that could become an actual constitutional crisis. And we don't use those phrases lightly."

The only problem: the media and Meet The Press has in fact used that term, "constitutional crises," quite often just within the past two years during Trump's presidency. Virtually every news story involving the president was dubbed as a "constitutional crisis" by at least one person on the show. From Trump’s original travel ban, leaks coming out of the White House to the President’s National Emergency declaration and now his insistence on having Congressional investigations be wrapped, both hosts and guests on Meet The Press didn’t hesitate to dropping the cc word.

The compilation above shows just some examples from Meet The Press and MTP Daily.

The term is also very frequently used on other cable news shows. Democrats in Congress such as Kamala Harris, Adam Schiff, Jerry Nadler, Joe Manchin, Michael Benett, Mazie Hirono, Jackson Lee, Chris Murphy as well as others many other politicians and commentators have dubbed moments within Trump's presidency as either a constitutional crisis or the verge to one.

The term itself has no clear-cut definition, so this likely won't be the last time it'll be thrown around widely by news hosts and politicians.
