Conservative cable network Newsmax ran a chyron stating it accepts 2020 election results during an interview with former President Donald Trump.
Trump has falsely claimed the election was rigged against him. Conservative media outlets such as Newsmax and Fox News ran with many of those claims, including allegations about specific companies. Two of those entities – Dominion Voting Systems and Smartmatic – have sued both networks for defamation. Dominion has already settled its suit with Fox for $787.5 million. The other cases are pending.
The former president phoned into Newsmax on Tuesday ahead of his first debate with President Joe Biden this cycle. Host and former Trump campaign manager Corey Lewandowski asked his former boss what his plans are for the Middle East.
“What do we do with Hezbollah, Sir?” he asked. “What’s the plan? And I know you don’t wanna give away all the strategy, but I’m sure you’ve got an idea of the way you would handle that.”
“Well, it’s Hamas, it’s Hezbollah, it’s 28 different cells of terror, they call them,” Trump replied. “And once we get it going and once we’re in power – and we have to be because we’re not gonna have a country. If we don’t win this election, November 5th, if we don’t win this election, we won’t have a country left, Corey. We’re not gonna have a country and you know that better than anybody.”
Perhaps suspecting that Trump was about to falsely claim the 2020 election was rigged against him, it was at this moment when a chyron appeared on the screen.
“Newsmax accepts the 2020 election results as legal and final,” it read.
