PANETTA: "No, I think there is a sense that these wars have to be brought to a conclusion. But they have to be a successful conclusion. I don’t think it’s just a question of simply pulling our troops out of Afghanistan and letting it go to hell. That, frankly, is what happened in Iraq. And you don’t want to repeat the same mistake. So, do we want to get our troops home? Of course we do. But at the same time, this President has put 20,000 additional troops into the Middle East to deal with Iran. We still face a lot of potential conflicts in the world. What we need is a president who protects our national security, period."
