WATERS: “This is something that the president has decided to do. Be damned. the Constitution of the United States, where an independent agency is under attack, he wants to control the Fed. He wants to be able to determine interest rates. He wants to be able to have the people on the governing board that will do exactly as they are told. This is extraordinarily dangerous. This is the makings of a dictator who is trying to control the entire economy, determining what interest rates are and what they are not. And if they don’t get frightened out of office and just leave, he’s going to fire them. Well, the Constitution does not allow that. And so the question becomes the Constitution says for cause what is caused undefined. And so he does not get a chance to exercise any executive order to fire. And I want you to know Lisa Cook is doing the right thing. She is taking him to court on a temporary restraining order. It was heard today. Let’s see where it goes from here.”
