O'BRIEN: "Well, I think they could escalate very quickly. Trump had legal grounds for policing the streets of Washington, D.C.. He doesn’t have legal grounds to enter into a state where the governor doesn’t want him to be there, and into a city where the mayor doesn’t want him to be there. And so the issue now is he’s going to raise the temperature, and I think probably foster a confrontation, either between protesters and federal troops on the streets, or between local police officers and others. And it’s just going to be a mess and it’s unnecessary. It’s not going to solve the problem Trump’s claiming it’s going to solve. It’s performative. He’s doing it again to distract. He’s doing it to score points with his base. But it’s — it is just — it’s obscene. This isn’t what America is about. This is what the Soviet Union was about. This is what Germany was about in the 1930s. This is not what America should be in the 2020s."
