Noah Rothman: If 25th Amendment Is Toothless, There Is Nothing to Restrain an Out of Control Executive Branch and the Country Is in a Bad Position

‘We need to know how to address it moving forward’

EXCERPT:

ROTHMAN: "You know, the 25th Amendment is an obligation that is imposed on the president’s subordinates, as well as the president. It is an executive branch mechanism. And if they were consciously ignoring the triggers that should invoke the 25th Amendment, we need to know that. If the 25th Amendment is toothless, if it has been rendered moot by just the necessities of bipartisanship, that's a really dangerous condition and the country needs to know it and we need to know how to address it moving forward. Impeachment already as a remedy for malfeasance, and the executive branch is relatively toothless. If the 25th Amendment is also toothless, there is simply nothing to restrain an out-of-control executive branch and the country is in a bad position as result of that reality. We just simply need to know it."
