President Obama appears to be siding with those calling for scrapping the Electoral College. Asked for his thoughts on calls for members of the Electoral College to take it upon themselves to vote against Donald Trump, Obama said America's electoral system is a "vestige ... from an earlier vision of how our federal government was going to work."
In arguing the institution is from a bygone era, Obama also took exception with the federalist the system that treats each state equally in the Senate.
"It’s the same type of thinking that gives Wyoming two senators with about a half million people and California with 33 million get the same two."
