House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) poked fun at President Trump after the commander-in-chief left Vietnam Thursday without a nuclear deal with North Korea.
North Korea’s Kim Jong Un, Pelosi said, “was the big winner.”
“The president is returning from Vietnam, from his meeting with Kim Jong Un; I guess it took two meetings for him to realize Kim Jong Un is not on the level,” Pelosi said. “He was the big winner, Kim Jung Un, in getting to sit face to face with the most powerful man in the world, the president of the United States.”
Pelosi did say she’s happy the president didn’t make any concessions during the meeting.
“As you know, they wanted lifting sanctions without the denuclearization and I’m glad the president walked away from that,” she said. “Diplomacy is important, we always support it. But the prospect for success … seemed dim in light of the insincerity of Kim Jung Un.”
“I’m glad that that didn’t work,” she concluded.
A reporter asked Pelosi what she thought of the president saying Kim Jung Un claims to have not known about Otto Warmbier being tortured. She responded that she hadn’t heard the comments.
