Rep. Ayanna Pressley: Trump Is ‘an Existential Threat to Every Person that Calls This Country Home’

PRESSLEY: “Well, it’s deeply offensive but predictable. It’s a play from a tired handbook. But they’re desperate. But, you know, look, Kamala Harris has been a woman of color her entire life. These trafficking and racist tropes and sexist tropes and misogynoir, that is no new experience for her. And so, we’re just going to keep doing what we need to do to build this broad and diverse coalition to ensure that we are successful in November. Donald Trump, you know — look, just like Kamala has always been a woman of color, he’s always been a bigot and a racist, discriminating against black tenants as a landlord, calling for the death penalty for the Central Park Five, and I could go on. He is an existential threat to every person that calls this country home. And that is why Project 2025 is so frightening because it is institutionalized Trumpism and it speaks to what would happen with another Trump White House and a weaponized Department of Justice and a weaponized Trump Supreme Court. So I’m going to stay on my black job and do everything in my power to ensure that since Donald keeps mispronouncing her name, if you can’t get Kamala right, soon enough she’ll be Madam President.”
