Ro Khanna: People Should Be Able to Express Their View, We Can’t Just Tell People We Disagree with To Be Silent

‘I was just standing up for our Constitution and for our First Amendment’

EXCERPT:

KHANNA: "I do, Maria, because I think if we want any hope of coming together as a country, the first thing we have to do is to say people should be able to express their view. We can’t tell people who we disagree with, 'Please just be silent, we don’t want to hear you, we don’t want to engage with you.' Let me tell you, that’s just going to create further polarization, further alienation. And I've been surprised how many Republicans who don’t agree with a single thing I said believe, 'Okay, at least we can have a dialogue.' And that, I think, is a first step to being together as Americans. We could all pledge allegiance to the Constitution, to the First Amendment. That's what makes us Americans."
