NIRENBERG: “Well, we’re seeing the numbers surge all throughout Texas now as we’re seeing them in the United States. And what we saw in El Paso, I think, is a warning sign for all of us here in Texas. We’ve seen the number of infections go up the cases and now ultimately it’s hitting our hospitals. In fact, San Antonio’s hospitalization rate has nearly doubled within the last two weeks. Knowing that, we’re entering into a pretty dangerous period here with the holiday weekend. There’s a lot of pandemic fatigue. People are getting excited about the possibility of vaccinations being available. We know there’s a lot of social gathering out there right now with extended families during this holiday season. So a very targeted approach to limit those social gatherings is our best way, I believe, of being able to keep from a very dreadful Christmas holiday where we’re going to see a lot of that come to pass in our hospitalizations and the infections, transmissions that we’re seeing take place over this holiday weekend.”
