BESSENT: “We can’t tell people, like, let them eat flatscreens. I think people would rather have their communities back. They would rather have the dignity of work than cheap gadgets. And — (applause) — The Wall Street Journal took a shot at me. They called me an Ivy League populist. And, you know, I tap back at them. And I said, well, that’s why you’re called The Wall Street Journal, not the Main Street Journal. It is. And Main Street suffered. At the Economic Club, someone asked me, what would you like for your legacy to be? What do you think the president’s legacy will be for his second administration? And I said, parallel prosperity. Wall Street always does great, but it’s Main Street’s turn to catch up.”
