Supercut: Steve Schmidt Has Thought up an Analogy He’d Like to Share

‘When you look at all of this, we’re functioning like a banana republic’

Communications “expert” Steve Schmidt has come up with an analogy he’s pretty excited about.

America under President Trump is just like — wait for it — “a banana republic.”

That’s the comparison Schmidt seems to make virtually every time he appears on TV.

When Ivanka Trump appeared at the G-20, sharing a table with world leaders, Schmidt opined: “It was inappropriate ... It makes the country look like a banana republic.”

During a 2017 MSNBC segment discussing the Trump campaign’s apparent openness to receive “dirt” from Russia on Hillary Clinton, Schmidt brought up the Justice Department: “We have the Justice Department seemingly on the edge of prosecutor Donald Trump’s political opponent, another giant leap towards banana republicanism in this country.”

Commenting on Jared Kushner working with the Saudi prince, Schmidt made a comparison that you can by now already predict: “This is why we have nepotism laws in this country. This is how a banana republic operates.”

When a madman terrorized a Pittsburgh synagogue, Schmidt connected the attack to Trump, and … you guessed, America’s new banana republic identity.

“There be more blood in this country this week heading to an election,” Schmidt predicted in the October 2018 appearance. “And this is what we used to see around the world in banana republics, in emerging democracies, but not here.”

And that’s just a small sampling. For more, check out the montage above.
