EXCERPT:
BAKER: "Well, he has, in fact shown some deference to the government by allowing them to come back again and again, saying, okay, I still don’t think you’ve answered my question. You now have until and he’s now set another deadline for next week. At some point, we’ll wonder whether or not he decides that these insufficient answers, answers he considers to be insufficient, are justification for some sort of penalty. As a result, holding the government or holding individual lawyers in contempt of court, he has tried to avoid that kind of confrontation so far, even as he’s demanding and making clear that he’s not going to give up on his demands for information so that he can judge the validity of what happened. Now, he’s not saying that the president doesn’t have the power to do this. He’s trying to say there’s a process for making sure that the president has the power to do this.”
