Warzone: Anti-Macron, Carbon Tax Protests Engulf Paris for Fourth Straight Weekend

Thousands of Frenchmen — initially angry at President Macron’s imposition of a carbon tax meant to bring France into compliance with the Paris Climate Accord, but more recently over France’s political class more generally — rioted again this weekend, turning the famed capital city into a veritable warzone.

After the protests turned violent over the last two weekends, Macron announced a postponement in the planned fuel tax of at least six months. But the protesters say that’s not enough. 

On Saturday, Parisian tourist attractions were shuttered to the public, as the streets were again filled with protesters, police, torched cars, water canons, and even a tank.
