While Giggling, Rep. Omar Claims the Trump Administration Is Giving Her PTSD

‘I feel ill ... I find myself being stricken with PTSD’

Discussing tensions between the United States and Iran is eliciting Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder in Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.), the lawmaker claimed Wednesday.

During a press conference in which Democrats denounced President Trump’s killing of an Iranian terror leader, Rep. Omar said she has PTSD from her youth, and the Trump Administration is worsening her symptoms.

The comments stood in contrast with the Minnesota Democrat’s behavior earlier in the press conference; many noted she was constantly joking around and being disruptive while Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee (D-Texas) discussed U.S. military deaths in Iraq.

“I feel ill a little bit because of everything that is taking place,” Rep. Omar said. “And I think every time I hear about — I hear of conversations around war, I find myself being stricken with PTSD. And I find peace knowing that I serve with great advocates for peace and people who have shown courage against war.”

Earlier in the press conference, Rep. Omar was seen joking around with her colleagues, Rep. Jamal Prayapal (D-Wash.) and Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-Mich.).
