White House: Rod Rosenstein Has Not Resigned or Been Fired

Press Secretary Huckabee Sanders released a statement clarifying his status
By Grabien Staff

White House Press Secretary is correcting earlier reports that Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein is either resigning or being fired.

Reports began circulating Monday morning that the embattled DoJ official was on his way out following a New York Times report last week that Rosenstein had secretly plotted to remove President Trump from office using the 25th Amendment.

Rep. Adam Schiff (D-Calif.) had called Rosenstein leaving part of a "slow moving Saturday night massacre." CNN asked if Rosenstein leaving might be grounds for impeaching Trump.

But as of now, Rosenstein is staying, The White House reports.

"At the request of Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein, he and President Trump had an extended conversation to discuss the recent news stories," Huckabee Sanders said in a statement. "Because the president is at the United Nations General Assembly and has a full schedule with leaders from around the world, they will meet on Thursday when the President returns to Washington, D.C."
